GLP-1 analogues, such as Semaglutide (Wegovy/Ozempic) and Tirzepatide (Mounjaro), works by acting on these brain areas, particularly the hypothalamus and brainstem, which regulate basic food intake, and other areas like the septum, thalamus, and amygdala, which are involved in the pleasure of eating.
In addition to helping with weight management, GLP-1 analogues has been shown in clinical studies to lower blood sugar levels by increasing insulin release and reducing glucagon when blood sugar is high. It also slows down how quickly the stomach empties after eating, helping to manage blood sugar levels. Importantly, during low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), GLP-1 analogues reduces insulin release without affecting glucagon secretion, helping to maintain balance.
